BCVL YEAR END TOURNAMENT

Tournament Outline & Rules

  •  The same rules as seasonal play will apply to the tournament, ghost rules and ball selection rules will also apply the same as seasonal play
  • Game times will be from 6:30 PM to 10:15 PM on Friday night and starting at 9 AM on Saturday morning
  • A Tournament is a triple elimination tournament bracket; B Tournament is a double elimination, 3 MATCH minimum tournament bracket
  • Seeding for the tournament is based on the regular season standings
  • All MATCHES will be best of 3
  • Playoff MATCHES will be 2 SETS to 21 (starting at 0, cap at 27), 3rd SET to 15 (if necessary, start at 0, no cap)
  • Championship MATCHES will be 2 SETS to 25 (starting at 0, no cap), 3rd SET to 15 (if necessary, start at 0, no cap)
  • If a 3rd SET is required, a coin toss for serve and side will take place prior to play of the 3rd SET, switch at 8 points
  • One 30 SECOND timeout per SET in the first 2 SETS, no timeouts in 3rd SET
  • In the event a MATCH goes beyond the time limit, a member of the committee will approach the referee to call last serve if the game is running long in a tie breaker (no cap), at a point of even score
  • A Division - In the event a team goes through the tournament without a loss, but loses the championship MATCH, as per the rules of a triple elimination tournament, the championship MATCH will be replayed (if necessary) twice to determine the outcome; first replay will be BEST of 3 MATCH, second replay will be a single SET to 25 points, no cap, win by 2.
  • B Division - In the event a team goes through the tournament without a loss, but loses the championship MATCH, as per the rules of a double elimination tournament, the championship MATCH will be replayed (if necessary) to determine the outcome; top seed will decide if it's a full BEST of 3 MATCH or single 25 point SET, win by 2, no cap.
